North American Alligator

A couple of the newest additions at the zoo are 3 Alligator. These animals are all rescue  animals.

Young north american alligator

One of the alligators is a couple years or so old and about two foot long, the other alligators are 4 or 5 years old and they are now about 5 to 6 feet long. Both were given to us as a result of getting too much for the owners to handle. The larger alligator has been here for 4 or 5 years now. Both of these animals are outside only about 5 to 5 1/2 months a year. The alligator have heated water to get into in the evenings to stay warm. They enjoy basking in the sun during the days. We have plans to build a building to house the Alligator, Tortoise, Lemur and other animals that require heat. This building will have indoor and outdoor areas so that the animals will not have to be moved during the winter months.
