Poco a Rhesus Maquac Monkey holding food in

Poco was a 4 year old Rhesus Maquac
Monkey. We excepted her in the summer of 2009 after she had been raised as a
family pet since a baby. After getting her, it was determined that due to
the fact that our vets did not want to handle this type of monkey that we
should get rid of her. We only had Poko a few months but what a sweet animal
she was. This was the first true primate or monkey that we ever had and was a totally new
experience. They have so many human like qualities and actions. We located a
sanctuary in Texas and she has been sent to the sanctuary where she will
live in as close to a wild conditions as possible with little human
interaction. She has a large (several acre enclosure) with others of her
kind. Here she will live out the rest of her life.
