The zoo has 2 African Spotted Hyena. They came from another zoo in the summer of 2018.

Thor and Butterball are two older female hyena that were purchased from another zoo in 2018. They are 8 and 10 years old. Thor is somewhat friendly and likes her neck scratched. Butterball on the other hand does not and isn't shy about telling you. They are large animals around 150-200 pounds. They have the strongest bite pressure of any mammal and can easily crush bone.
